Opening

This build skips the first Barracks. We build a Command Center first and this makes us vulnerable for early attacks. That is why we have to scout our enemy quite early to get as much information as we can. We want to be prepared when our opponent tries to roll us over!

Usually our opponents will choose the same strategy as we do. In case they don’t we are forced to build bunkers and maybe even Missle Turrents. The timing of the enemy’s second base is really important. By this we can see whether he wants play aggressively or not. If the timing is later than the timing of our own base, he definitely plans an early attack.

Now we want to know what kind of early attack our enemy has planned. We can find this out due to the buildings he already has. If he has already one or two Gateways, he probably focusses on his ground army. In this case we have to build bunkers to secure our second base.

But if we don’t spot any Gateways but two Gas Geyser, then it is going to get a bit more complicated. In this case you have to be prepared for three different attacks. Send out an SCV to scout every spot where the enemy could hide possible buildings. Then we know what is coming our way.

  • Scenario 1 - Proxy Oracle: A proxy Oracle can hit us really early and deals a lot of damage if we are not prepared. That is why we have to build 5 Marines. We position them right in our Mineral Line to kill the Oracle as quickly as possible. After this we have to build Missle Turrets in our Mineral Line.

  • Scenario 2 - Proxy Dark Templars: Against Proxy DTs we, as Terran players, have quite an easy counter - Scan. With Scan we have the ability to kill the first DTs easy and quick. Nevertheless we should not underestimate the power of Dark Templar. That is why we should build Missle Turrents in the following minutes.

  • Scenario 3 - Blink or other late attacks: In this case we have a little bit more time to prepare us for an attackt. We have time to find out what attack is waiting for us. If there is a Blink attack coming, we have to build bunkers not only on the highground but on the low ground as well. This makes it easy for us to switch positions to secure the attacked spots.
    Against any other attack just build Bunkers on the lowground and repair them with SCVs during an attack.

Basic Build

After surviving the early game it is still important to constantly scout our opponent. By this we can react to any possible attack. Due to our greedy three base build we usually have an economic advantage. So we only have to focus on the fact that our opponent does not outplay us. To make sure this does not happen to us we have to spread a few marines over the map. By this we have the full map controll.

As soon as we have a small army consisting of Marines, Marauders and Medivacs we can move out and pressure our opponent. Now we can use the full range of our Terran army. We can use drops, attack him from different spots all at once or pressure him by constantly attacking the same spot.

While doing so we have to secure our own expansions. We can slowly but surely add Liberators to our army composition. By this we prepare ourselves for the incoming late game. It is also important to research Upgrades.

hallo

ist bei 70 supply eine 3. setzten jetzt nicht sehr spät?, ich meine für den titel 3 base bio opening, build order ist ja schön und gut aber ne schnelle 3. ist das nicht?

du baust auch 3 baracks 1 fac, 1 starport vor der 3. cc und schreibst in deiner beschreibung dass du rausgehen willst mit medivacs, das ist jetzt nicht meine definition von defensiver 3 base ^^

und einen early scout sollte doch auch nicht sein wenn wir heavy eco gehen wollen?

du spielst protoss und machst ne terran bo , soso :P
